Season 2 Overview: What's New
The War Within Season 2 introduces a refreshed Mythic+ dungeon pool, updated gear ilvl breakpoints, and a new raid tier with 11 bosses. The Mythic+ pool features 4 new dungeons from the expansion and 4 returning dungeons from previous expansions, reworked with updated mechanics.
Gear ilvl has scaled upward: Normal raid drops at 593, Heroic at 619, and Mythic at 632+. Great Vault rewards scale from 606 (for +2 completions) to 626 (for +10 completions) — making the +10 threshold the most important weekly goal for serious gear hunters.
Week 1-3: Catchup Gear and Key Seeding
The first three weeks of a season are about building the gear floor to participate in serious content. World quests offer 580 ilvl gear. Crafted gear (from player professions) can be purchased up to 610 ilvl for critical slots. LFR opens in week 2 and provides 580 ilvl pieces.
For M+, key seeding happens in weeks 1–3 — every dungeon you time at any level starts building your IO. GG Market carries in this window are priced at their seasonal minimum, making it the optimal time to buy a starter IO push.
The Weekly Progression Loop
Every week, complete at minimum: 4 Mythic+ dungeons at your target level (for Great Vault choices), 1 raid lockout (LFR minimum, Heroic preferred), and your world quest cache for additional gear. Weekly M+ completion triggers a weekly chest of bonus gear from your Great Vault.
The Vault gives you three choices after 1, 4, and 8 dungeon completions at your highest key level — completing 8 keys per week gives you three high-ilvl choices, dramatically increasing your gear acquisition speed.
Mythic+ Dungeon Pool: What to Prioritize
Prioritize dungeons with gear that fills your current weakest slots. Every dungeon has specific boss loot tables — check Wowhead's loot tables to find which bosses drop your most-needed item types. If you need a weapon, run the dungeons with weapon drops first.
For IO push purposes, prioritize dungeons rated easiest on the season's difficulty tier. GG Market sellers maintain a current season difficulty tier list that's updated after each tuning pass.
When to Buy Carry Services This Season
The optimal time to buy carries is weeks 2–4, after you've done your free catchup gear but before the mid-season price increase as more players compete for premium seller time.
If you're starting the season late (week 5+), buy immediately — each week of missed Vault progression is effectively missed gear. A carry that gets you from 0 to 1000 IO in week 5 means you're competitive for the rest of the season rather than fighting 4 weeks behind.
